Lorraine Lawrence-Whittaker is a 25 year veteran of trial and litigation work. After a brief award-winning stint as a legal journalist for The Daily Record - a state-wide newspaper located in Baltimore, Maryland - Lawrence-Whittaker jumped into the fire of working for a high-pressure, high-end plaintiff’s firm that litigated major business fraud and medical malpractice cases against the likes of Ernst & Young, LLP, Bell Atlantic and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

While there, Lawrence-Whittaker was an associate on the team that secured a $185,000,000 settlement from Ernst & Young in the Merry-Go-Round bankruptcy malpractice case and was the primary associate on a medical device case that garnered a $10,000,000 verdict in DC Federal Court against Bristol-Myers Squibb. Lawrence-Whittaker was fortunate to be mentored by Arnold Weiner, Esquire who has continued to graciously answer when called and has served as the inspiration for her career – the quintessential trial attorney who can try any case.

Five years of trying up to six cases per week as an associate under the tutelage of Jonathan N. Portner, Esquire thereafter armed Lawrence-Whittaker with invaluable experience, skills and confidence to launch her own firm.

Since 2004 Lawrence-Whittaker has been the managing member of a Maryland based firm where she has litigated cases in both federal and state courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia, where she is licensed, as well as being a sought after trial counsel for cases in other jurisdictions including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, among others.

One of her most unusual clients was the recent winningest thoroughbred of North America of 2019, Maryland’s own Anna’s Bandit, whom Lawrence-Whittaker represented twice before the Maryland Racing Commission.
